about

Bit of a special one, here - back in 2004 I moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia from York in the UK. I'd been playing music in England before the move and was really torn between keeping that going and moving to Canada to pursue a Masters in International Development. I went with the sensible option, but as soon as I got to Halifax I went out and bought a cheap acoustic guitar and kept playing. This song here is the first thing I remember recording after the move to Canada, so in many ways to me it's the FIRST Paper Beat Scissors song, even though that project wouldn't really get going until 2008.

I initially just recorded it straight into the laptop microphone, with this version here being a slightly more fleshed out version I worked on during a visit home to England where I had access to some proper recording gear. I still really love the melody and chord structure in this one.
