This was a demo from early on in the writing process for the Go On album. I was spending a lot of time sampling and chopping voices, guitars and drums. I always had a big soft spot for this one, but it never quite fit with the rest of the album. Lyrically it's about that fear (that I think all artists/musicians/writers have) around how much it's possible to maintain a relationship and be totally committed to your craft. The reference to the "shield and bows" came from a time I was briefly working doing set up and tear down for a theatre company in Nova Scotia, and one late late night shift we were dropping off supplies at a storage space across the bridge that was full of all kinds of weird and wonderful props...
